Tree Farms and Biodiversity
Suzano is one of the multiple partners joining the 1t.org Corporate Alliance, a project under the World Economic Forum whose efforts are to accelerate nature-based solutions. The alliance was set up to bring business leaders with a mutual vision to plant one trillion trees by 2030 to meet our climate and biodiversity goals.
To realize our commitment, Suzano has made a clear commitment to connect half a million hectares of fragmented areas in Cerrado, the Amazon, and Atlantic Forest biomes in Brazil, by 2030. Our eucalyptus trees are planted in mosaics, which means, we intersperse the trees across areas of native forests to protect rivers, lakes, and floodplains, and to connect Brazilian wildlife and plant populations through environmental corridors.
To further our efforts, Suzano works with Ecofuturo Institute, a non-profit organization founded in 1999, which is dedicated to the preservation of natural areas. The non-profit is run by Suzano. A good example of its accomplishments is the Neblinas Park, a referential environmental reserve, where our activities involving forest management, forest restoration, environmental education, scientific research, ecotourism, and community participation.
