On December 2, 2020, Sao Paulo-Suzano, the world’s leading eucalyptus pulp producer and one of the largest companies in Latin America, has been included in the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) of Brazil’s B3 Exchange for the period of January 2021. 4th to December 30th. ISE is an index that tracks the performance of B3 listed companies in corporate sustainability, social justice, environmental balance and corporate governance practices. Suzano was included in the ISE along with 39 other companies, demonstrating its role as a global leader in tackling climate change, protecting natural habitats, and positively impacting communities and individuals.

Marcelo Barca, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer of Sukarno, commented: “The continued recognition by important independent assessment agencies (such as ISE) shows that our work has had environmental and social impacts so far. Go on the right path.

“However, there is still a lot of work to be done. We are committed to building a more sustainable future and solving some of the most pressing social challenges. This is the core of our business and we will continue to ensure that all our activities are in line with this. One goal.”

Previously, Susano issued the first 10-year USD 750 million sustainability-related bond (SLB) in the United States and emerging markets in September 2020. Through the bond, Susano became the second global company in the world. Companies whose public commitments in environmental, social, and governance are linked to their capital structure.

In addition, earlier this year, Susanna announced a number of long-term goals, including (but not limited to) the following commitments by 2030: to remove 40 million tons of additional carbon from the air; on a global scale, to replace it with renewable bio-resource products 10 million tons of plastics and petroleum products; through employment and income-generating projects in target areas in Brazil, 200,000 people have been lifted out of poverty.
