Products Microfibrillated cellulose (MFC)
  • Microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) is obtained through a mechanical fibrillation process of cellulose fibers. The obtained fibrils are much smaller in length and diameter compared to the original fibers and can form a network or a web-like structure resulting in unique features to enable better performance and quality in several applications in different markets.

  • Finnish company Spinnova has developed environmentally sustainable technology for textile fibre production using MFC. The fibre has already been used in clothing collections by fashion brands, including Adidas, H&M Group, Marimekko, and Bergans, amongst others. To scale up its industrial production, Suzano and Spinnova have established a joint venture Woodspin, which is the exclusive producer and distributor of wood-based SPINNOVA® fibre, using Suzano’s MFC. The industrial production of the textile fibre was started in May, 2023 in Jyväskylä, Finland.
